A special travel season is started in the beginning of December by the numerous Christmas markets on this world. Whole squares and districts are adorned with candlelight and christmas trees. The smell of cinnamon, mulled wine and baked apples blowing through the streets and the sounds of Christmas music float above the markets. Last but not least, traditional craftsmanship and various gift ideas are presented to the Christmas market visitors and everyone is delighted by the pre-Christmas atmosphere.

The deeper meaning of Christmas, however, is quite different. It is not about the great gifts of the loves and also not about the limitless enjoyment of the food. No, on the contrary, we wish each of you to be able to get involved in the deep meaning of this days. Because Christmas is a chance to get calm and to fill the soul. Eisenach - Historic Christmas Market on the Wartburg

The Christmas trip back to the Middle Ages is nowhere as intense as in the Wartburg castle courtyard. Erfurt Christmas Market

During the Advent season, the annual Christmas market takes place at the Cathedral Square, in the background of which the Erfurt Cathedral and the Severinkirche perched. Basically, the market runs through the entire inner city and smaller offshoots are located at the fish market, the Schlösserbrücke and the Anger. 200 cottages offer Christmas accessories. Delicious and one of the specialties is the Thuringian bratwurst and the Erfurt hamlet - the Christstollen. Highlights of the market are the 25 meter high fir, the eight meter high Christmas pyramid and the life-size Christmas crib with 14 hand carved figures.

Frankfurter Christkindchesmarkt at the Römer

The birth date of the Christmas market in Frankfurt can be dated to 1393. Thus, the market in the Romans belongs to one of the oldest Chriskindl places in Germany. On the whole, and definitely worth a visit, is the traditional and old Christkindlmarkt of Nuremberg. Since the 16th century the market festivities have been held in the inner city, where, at the opening, Christkind speaks of the prologue from the Frauenkirche gallery. The most famous French Christmas market is on the Champs Elysées. In mid-November, more than 160 huts will be set up in the romantic world metropolis.
